Q: What is the difference between the TrailMark Metro District and the TrailMark HOA?
The TrailMark Metropolitan District is a quasi-governmental entity and is a separate organization from the TrailMark Homeowners Association, a private organization.  Both organizations have their own Board of Directors and completely different purposes.  Please read this document <to be added> for more information.

 

Q. How can someone serve on the TrailMark Metro Board?
To qualify as a director, a person must be an “eligible elector” defined as a registered voter of Colorado and either:

  • a resident of the district for not less than 30 days; or
  • the owner (or spouse of the owner) of taxable real or personal property situated in the District; or
  • a person obligated to pay taxes under a contract to purchase taxable property. 

Director qualifications must be met at the time of the execution of the nomination petition and must be maintained in order to remain qualified as a director.

 

The next directors’ election will be held in 2012, and the following is a brief description of the timelines (exact dates will be updated closer to the election time):

  • Between [date TBD] and [date TBD] a 'Call for Nominations' will be published advising the public what terms are up for election, how to obtain a nomination petition, etc.
  • Self-Nomination and acceptance forms have to be filed with the DEO (Designated Election Official) by [date TBD]
  • The election can be cancelled on [date TBD] as long as the only matter before the electors is the election of directors and if there are not more candidates than offices to be filled at the election.

General Board Member information:

  • 4-year terms for the TMMD with Board positions staggered for election every 2 years. There are no term limits in TMMD. 
  • $100 per meeting and $1600/year is the maximum stipend allowed by law - if a director doesn't attend, they do not receive the $100. 
  • Directors are covered by POL insurance and governmental immunity per statute.

Q.  When are Board meeting minutes posted to the website?
Minutes are reviewed by the Board at the next regular Board meeting and will be posted to the website after approval.
