Why Focus on Wildfire?
Wildfires have become an increasingly common occurrence in many parts of the world, and Colorado is no exception. While most people tend to associate wildfires with remote forests or grasslands, the truth is that they can pose a significant threat to urban areas as well. In fact, urban areas in Colorado are particularly vulnerable to wildfires due to a combination of factors such as dry weather, high winds, and a significant amount of nearby vegetation. Therefore it's important to prepare for wildfire in urban Colorado areas.
Wildfires can spread quickly, and people who are caught in their path may not have enough time to evacuate. However, by preparing for wildfire, you can ensure that you and your loved ones know what to do in the event of an emergency. Being prepared includes having an emergency plan in place and practicing your plan.
South Metro Fire Rescue prepares for wildfires by providing ongoing training for our highly skilled firefighters. We have state-of-the-art equipment and technology, strong partnerships with other agencies, and a comprehensive emergency response plan. We also focus on community education and outreach. We are honored to be a part of your emergency plan!
