A letter from SSPR regarding mowing natural grasses

HOA president Ken Colaizzi recently reached out to South Suburban Parks & Recreation to alert them about the tall natural grasses in TrailMark and the concern that rattlesnakes may be hiding in those grasses.

Here’s the reply from SSPR.

Hi Ken,

The natural space mowing for trail edges and fence lines will begin next week, after Memorial Day and will be finished by June 13th for the first mow of the season.

The District implemented an Open Space Management Plan that calls for a reduction in mowing for sustainability, only mowing areas when faced with a noxious weed infestation.  The District will not mow areas routinely in order to preserve the habitat function of the native landscape.

Have a great day,
