DRC Emergency Home Improvement Requests

Dear TrailMark Residents,

At our September 8th HOA meeting, the Board discussed the DRC Emergency Home Improvement Request process. If and when you experience an emergency (i.e. a leaking roof, broken window, broken garage door, vandalism, etc.), the DRC will proactively help each and every one of you in a timely manner outside of the 1st and 3rd scheduled meetings of each month.

This article strictly pertains to the 659 single family homes and NOT the Star Canyon Patio Homes, or the Star Canyon Condos.

Emergency requests that are sent into the DRC from homeowners usually get a response in 24 hours or less. Please note that scheduling a contractor is not considered an emergency! The DRC’s definition of an emergency is defined as, “A serious, unexpected and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action to repair or replace.” (https://www.trailmark.org/design-review-committee/)

If you have a broken garage door, or need a rail to keep an elderly relative safe, those are appropriate examples of requesting an emergency request on your DRC Home Improvement Request Form. When encountering a legitimate emergency while filling out your DRC Home Improvement Request Form, please write, “THIS IS AN EMERGENCY REQUEST BECAUSE…” (see photo)

By marking your DRC Home Improvement Request Form as an Emergency, the DRC will quickly address the urgent request. When homeowners do not follow the process, it ends up costing all 799 of us additional money because we then have to follow our Covenant Enforcement Policy. Unfortunately, homeowners who disregard and/or completely ignore the process altogether force the HOA to send notices of non-compliance which can be quite expensive.

Our hope is to further educate homeowners on the Emergency process if needed, and also help the Association save money. This process does work quickly if you have an emergency.
