Many of you have mentioned that you are sick and tired of looking at the tall weeds on the South side of our entrance; specifically East of the Fire Station all the way to Wadsworth. I, too, share your frustration.

For those of you who don’t know, that portion of land is owned by the City of Littleton, not the TrailMark HOA. As long as I’ve been on the HOA Board, the City of Littleton has always had an agreement with South Suburban Parks and Recreation to maintain that parcel of land, meaning mowing, fertilizing, etc. I have asked South Suburban Parks and Rec to please mow that portion at least 5 times in the past 3 weeks, most recently yesterday as I even sent them a map and circled that area in red.
Our HOA Manager, Roxanne, has also asked South Suburban Parks and Recreation to please mow it as Westwind has received numerous complaints as well. This morning I received an email from South Suburban Parks and Rec saying that they have completed the weed mow of what is their responsibility here in TrailMark, yet this area has still not been mowed.
Today, HOA Treasurer, Phil Kinney, and myself took it upon ourselves to take a mower up to that area and mow the weeds ourselves! If you look at the before picture, you will see the weeds go as high as Phil’s thighs, and Phil is 5 foot 10 inches. The after picture shows how it should look if it were properly maintained. It took us 75 minutes to mow this area.

The HOA won’t be mowing this on a regular basis, but we chose to tackle this because we are only 2 of 799 homeowners who are also tired of looking at these weeds too. I have sent an email and these photos to Mayor Kyle and to the South Suburban Parks and Recreation Chair of the Board so that they can keep arm wrestling who’s going to maintain it.
Enjoy the clean mow while it lasts. For those of you who are interested, the weed mitigation is one of the topics on our July 8th agenda for our HOA meeting. We will go over any other updates we have at that time.
Sincerely,
Ken Colaizzi, President
